I LOVE THE RANGERS!
Here are some fun facts about Cliff Lee:
1. He’s 3-0 this playoffs, with all of his wins coming on the road.
2. He has more wins (3) than walks (1).
3. His strikeout ratio is 34:1.
4. Cliff Lee=my hero.
Right now Josh Hamilton is coming in a close second though, hitting his second home run of the series in the first inning to make the game 2-0, and giving Lee all he needed to take care of the rest. I got the feeling that he was going to come back out for the 9th before Texas scored 6 in the top of the inning to put the game away.
I was glad to see that Neftali Feliz got the opportunity to throw in Yankee stadium, albeit it wasn’t a pressure situation. I think that will help him later in the series if it comes down to needing a save from the rookie closer.
Cliff Lee did what he do, but let’s give Andy Pettitte credit where credit is due. He essentially threw one bad pitch all game. It just happened to give up two runs.
I’m VERY excited to see if the Rangers can get to A. J. Burnett early, tomorrow and get him rattled like the rest of the Yankee pitchers have been this series (with Pettitte and Rivera being the exceptions). If they get Burnett out early and take the fans out of the game, I am confident that Tommy Hunter can take care of business and hold off the Yankee bats for one more game.
I feel very very good about the rest of this series. Texas has out played the Yankees in 26 of 27 innings. That’s a great sign of the confidence this team has playing in a situation new to this franchise, and hopefully it will carry over to the next two games. I’m going to game 6 if necessary, but let’s hope it won’t be. If everything works out, the Rangers can still take this one in 5, despite losing game 1.
